Default January 2015 Challenge: Bird's-Eye View

And another late one which I probably won't finish on time. But, hey, good practice to get back into things and experiment! I've been so busy this month that this is the first artistic thing I've had a chance to create this year. Crazy.

Started with a pencil sketch on paper which I scanned to paint over and detail further digitally. The finished piece won't keep the scan but it's helpful having it there while fleshing out the landscape. Plus it's proof that I have some plans for labeling it, haha!

Same here, pretty much… 2015 hasen't started very fun :/ BUT that is a fantastic beginning. Looks like this panoramic style works just as well digitally as in acrylics.

Fantastic start, Chashio. Please finish it, so I don't have to vote for an unfinished map again

What a great start! If you don't manage to finish it in the challenge, I for one would love to see a extended WIP version. Really nice perspective.

    Cheers,

    Very nice map.
And one that really respects perspective laws - that's rare enough to be mentionned.

Thanks guys! I don't know when this challenge is closing but I should have the next five hours or so to work on it.

Could you tell me what green you used for the foreground part ?
Did you try it randomly or did you import the green palette from a photograph ? It looks so incredibly realistic and just fitting with the scale you use.
