    WIP-Update:
Well, i added a wave-texture and a layer of fog (both with overlay) to the water, and i'm quiet happy with the outcome...
I also redid the texture of the houses and made some new shadows. Due to my lacking drawing-experience (or better: spatial perception) i had to make some experiments with a lamp and a self made cardboard half-cylinder . Despite that, i'm not sure if the shadows make any sense at all, the way they are now. For sure i have to add some shadows on the houses themself. I hope they'll look less "floating" after that.

Very evocative map. I hadn't read about these kinds of villages before - they are very interesting - definitely inspiration for the future. Also I liked your descriptions of the residents - I love that level of detail in village maps.

*edit* and your new version you just posted looks better too!

Thanks Larb! Means a lot to me, especially from someone who's making such adorable village-maps like you.

That's a lot of successful improvements, imo. The shadows looks very good

I agree, the shadows look fine. I really like what you did with the water texture.

Thanks ChickPea! During those grey, north-german rainy days in march, working on such a place is a bit like doing holidays XD

I forgot to mention that i somewhat swapped the colours of the islands and the houses. I read somewhere, that warmer colours tend to "foreground" themselves, and i think the houses and other elements look better now on a more desaturated background. But compared to the earlier version the whole map looks much darker now (mostly due to the water).

So, i worked a bit more on the legend and added a relief (it's originally on a trough from Uruk) which depicts a arched reed house and some cattle. I also added an ornament-frame around the text and adapted the colouring. Would love to hear your critique and what you think!
