I love the satirical approach to fantasy

Ah, those colours are really lovely.

It's not at all inspired by a certain other tower of similar shape
Well, I think I've seen Saruman on the top of it... Excellent map, already!

Posting early today as I need some help and I don't want to create a thread for it, if I can help it. Apart from the tower, which hardly counts, I rarely draw buildings and when I do they're simple symbols. Does anyone have tips or a link I can look to help drawing city icons? It's why I've put off drawing 'lionguard' for so long.

    - redid the dark forest
    - redid the chasm

Darn, this map is getting better by the day! Absolute lovely concept and fantastic use of colors. The Maelstrom and Mount Death are my favorites at the moment.

IMHO something like this could work well with your map. I'm really interested what you come up with.
    Good luck!

That must be Rohirric for Rapunzel.

For cities you could see if some of what lesopeso is up to over here gives you any ideas. Style is similar to what MstrWelf suggested, but a flat side view. Oh! and djpspek has a city icon too. A whole bunch of great tutorials actually.

    cheers,

    Thanks for the links, guys.

    Some new updates:

I'm hopeless with straight-line structure stuff so this wall might be laughable to most of you. Would love some opinions before I continue on with it.

I love the YggdraSEAL, hillarious! With your spectacular linework, have you considered drawing the wall by hand too? Atm it looks very "straight" compared to the rest. Maybe it doesn't need every single brick and the outcome might fit the rest of the elements and the whole map-style better.
For the city icons djekspek's tutorials came to my mind too. Not sure if you're heading for "flat" city icons, but besides the mentioned ones by lesopeso my personal favourites are the ones on sapiento's The Hyborian Age map.

Haven't done too much in the past couple days but here you go. Forgehold will probably change. I wish I had planned a bit better before I started rendering stuff and adding effects. I tend to do that and now I can't fix some things that I'd like to, but oh well.

Considering this and things like the tentacle on the va'dum map, I think I'm developing some sort of pop-up book style for maps, lol.
