Wow, I love that tapestry look, it really livens up the map. Although the thick black outlines seem a bit strong contrast to the background. Making them a tiny bit transparent might make this look more real (what I mean is like you can still see the texture through the red labels).

As for your question about scales, it would be useful information for those who don't know how big the planet is. But if the map is supposed to represent something made by the inhabitants of the world, then it comes down to the queston of whether they would have included a scale. Oh, and since this is the entire world map, the biggest islands should count as continents.

Compass rose and scale maybe? Or maybe some kind of "signature" by the mapmaker, someone else recently did that and I thought it a good idea. Or heck, you could do both.

I think the map looks great as is. The empty space doesn't detract at all. The fonts and style lead be to believe it's authenticity and scale may detract from it. I think the General had a great idea in some sort of signature if you really had to fill the space.

Ok I agreed with ghostman and toned down the coastlines. I added the ship and scale but have the map saved without them. I can't figure out which I like more. Unless somebody says something brilliant, I will call it quits on this one.

This is the first non-CC3 map I ever made and I am happy with it.

I'd say a ship as awesome as that is a definite keeper. But with or without it, this map is just plain gorgeous.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. I still feel its missing something, maybe I am just used to putting more detail in my maps. I don't know but thanks again for the comments.

I agree, the ship(s) was a great choice to fill that "void".

I duly dub thee repped *bonk*
