You are missing the 3rd dimension - the height.
If you want to draw a relief map in perspective, you must start with the foreground objects (trees, hills, mountains).
It is the size of these that will give you the scale of the objects that will be in background.
In this sketch the foreground mountains are clearly too small compared to the mountains on the horizon and the box (?) if it is a tower would be almost invisible if it is not several km high.
I think adding a slight curvature of the earth/planet would help as well.
Cheers,

I noticed that the mountain range I had curved in almost exactly like Ered Lithui so I decided to go for it. I present what I hope to be the map of which I'm most proud of when it's finished: Mordor. (perhaps only north mordor)
Could a community leader change the title of the thread to WIP - Mordor, please?

"What was going on looked wonderful and was generating comments although perhaps more about the love everyone has for the subject matter than about your specific map." And we have a winner! Congratulations.
This thread has been an interesting read...
It's clearly not that Sarithus hasn't received "the criticisms he wants" as Ravells puts it, it's that for the majority of the thread there wasn't a single criticism good or bad, constructive or non-constructive. Basically a hijacking. But in all fairness those people have rightly apologized. Just leave it be people. It's fairly obvious why Sarithus got annoyed. He posted it to receive criticism, why else? Imagine you're doing some networking for some concept art or whatever and you're enthusiastic about showing your work or portfolio to all these people surrounding you. You present it to them and they basically shove you away and start having their own little conversation without actually referring specifically to the piece of work. And Ravells, to imply that Sarithus is being childish because he isn't receiving attention on his thread is ridiculous. It's HIS map, HIS thread and he would like some valued criticism from the community in order to better his work. In what way is that childish?
