    Default Havens of the Holy

Here's a commission I did for a RPG group, a smallish map showing the starting region for the players. The client didn't give me a good description of scale, but my sense was that it's roughly the area of the Arabian peninsula, 'plus a bit'. He also wanted an ornate frame, but wanted the map to look a bit aged, as if it was an old map framed in some sultan's palace. I personally think the frame turned out a bit gaudy, but he loved it and he paid me for it, so it's all good.

Fonts are Knight's Quest for the city names and title, and Kertayasa for everything else. The underlying parchment base was a freebie from Torstan.

Hope you enjoy and as Max says, feel free to rep, rate, or run away.

I don't mind the border at all. The hammered gold filigree turned out nicely, and I like the pattern as well. The map is very clear and legible, and I like the warm colors. Great job all around.

Great map, the border is gaudy, but it is exactly what I would expect in a sultan's collection.

Hah!, Good point Bogie, I agree. I do like the map, particularly the mountains and the way the trees are not so close together. Normally trees like that would bother me but for this map it fits nicely. Great job! Incoming rep if I can.

    Thanks kindly, guys.

Yeah, J.Ed, I worked for a loooong time getting that title text how it is; I was trying to make it look like sand dunes kind of, and it turned out pretty nicely I think.

the type seems to overpower the subtle colors of the map features, but overall love the look. Nice job.

This is a very attractive map, and I love the border and the way it seems to lift off the page. That's beautifully done. The colour palette is very nice and it works well with the desert theme. If I had to nitpick about something, I guess it would be the forest area. It isn't bad, or anything like that. I think I'd just like to have seen ... something more. Not quite sure how to explain it. But it's a minor quibble, as it does work as it is.

    Rep incoming!
