Map Navicomp - a map and programming project

This is both a map, and a programming project. It's a prototype of something I was intending to include with another program I am working on (which has nothing to do with maps), but I wanted to show the map to you guys.

It's a program which displays my map, with points of interest, and allows the user to click a destination to find out further information, in this case a smaller map showing greater detail and a little area history.

The map I've created is a sci-fi starmap, but it's scriptable and could just as easily handle a fantasy or historical map, with points of interest being forts and villages, with the extra details in the pop-up boxes being village/fort maps and area trivia or characters of note.

The images aren't great at showing the map in action, this small youtube vid is much better.

I like the conceptualization of a stellar map. Very cool,

Pimping my worldmap here. Still WIP... long way to go, but I'm pretty proud of what I've done so far...

Pretty cool. Looks like it's from a video game. Nice job.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I have a fair bit of work at the moment, but I'd ideally like to have a few members take the exe for a test drive once I have a free day. I need to see if it works as intended on computers using different themes in particular.

That's a really sweet idea, man.

I'd be really interested to see this concept played out in an online environment, either in Flash or handled through some front-end dynamic kung fu like jQuery or Ruby.
