Default September 2015 Challenge: The Trident Battlefield

Those challenge are a never ending source of inspiration for cartographers looking for a theme
In this map two nations are gathering their military forces before a possible terrible war. For now minor incidents between each forces only occurs in allied countries of each sides, and the neutral states between those two giants are scared that the situation gets out of control..
For now i've worked a bit with qgis, photoshop and illustrator.

Wow. Red vs. Blue has really escalated!

This is looking like a great story in the making, and another fine landscape, as usual.

    cheers,
    Meshon

Hey Francissimo, this is an awesome entry! It looks very neat (as usual) and the glowing icons are a great idea, they fit the flair of your map very nicely. The only thing that doesn't quite fit in my view, is the font of the two bay labels. They look a bit too "baroque" compared with the rest of the labels.
    Keep up the great work!

Great map, maybe too many fonts. Use one, then all caps, bold, italic, different sizes.

I love the blinking icons, but because they all light up - no one - stands out, could you just have a couple that help to tell a story?

Could the colors be a little less vibrant, just a thought, this is a powerful map. Nice job.

Cool map!, the icons are amazing! it looks like a strategic wargame!
    Just two notes:
-like snodsy said, the fonts are too many.. (my favorite is the cities one)
-you should add a little bit of texture to the ocean, and maybe darken -or lighten- it
