Aug / Sept 15 Lite Challenge: Mapping Objects VOTING TIME !

The challenge this time was to make objects or elements that could be placed on a map. Anything was fair game and you could make anywhere from 1 to 6 objects.

We had 9 wonderful entries, voting will be difficult. You can vote for as many as you want.

Voting will last for 3 days and the winner or winners will receive a Wonderful Silver Compass.
( I will not be surprised if this is a close race with 2 or more winners )

Please take the time to click on everyone's Thumbnail in the Thumbnail Scrapper Thingy so you can see each piece of art in it's full glory. the tiny views do not do justice to the detail in a lot of these entries.

And don't forget to REP every entry you like or feel deserves the rep for their hard work whether you voted for them or not.

Forgive my silly question: authors of works can vote for themselves?

I don't think there's any rule preventing it, but it's not at all customary.
The best maps are the ones we like the most after looking at the longest.

Yes, you can. And you should, IF you sincerely believe that your entry is among the best.

I simply try to look at all of them, including my own as objectively as I can, pretending that someone I dislike did mine, and if I would still vote for it, I do (with no apologies).

I feel like that is a personal choice and if you are comfortable with voting for your own work I see nothing wrong with that. I personally don't vote for my own work, I don't feel like I can look at it subjectively. I have had maps in past in challenges that I thought should have gotten more votes but looking back at them now that I have a better eye for mapping I see why they didn't. I don't think anyone here will judge you if you vote for your own work, I would just worry about how you would feel about it.

On another note... Wow! People really stepped it up for this challenge! Great work everyone. It was really hard to not vote for them all. I spread rep to those who I could, sorry Lesopeso my ATM for you is running low at this time.

Like Domino, it was hard for me not to vote for them all. You guys really delivered this time.

Now to go spread some rep!

edit: Dang, the only person I couldn't rep was Abu. But I gave you a vote!

I agree with all the responses so far. I have no problem with others who vote for themselves. I don't vote for myself, but that goes way back to High School when I voted for myself for team captain and the coach pointedly noted that I won by a unanimous vote and everyone teased me about it. But that is just my psychosis, others feel that if their map is worthy of the vote then it is worthy of the vote and that is OK too. So make your own decision on this.

After thinking about it, I choose to skip the voting, because I can't be objective... good luck to all!

Very impressive entries this month, and quite an assortment. I enjoyed watching them all come together and seeing the surprise entries pop up near the end. Fantastic job, everyone!
