    thanks for the input! It's just to make them easily spotted,,, especially if you zoom out a bit. But I will probably make them a bit more narrow.

    Note: one pixel equals 1 km (1000m)

    Rivers, roads, and borders are often represented on maps as wider or thicker than they actually would be, as seen from a satellite. Maps are abstractions, and the important thing is to show where these essential features lie relative to each other. I give a lot of leeway to the way that features like these are drawn, especially when they are otherwise excellent. For instance, rivers that have a proper, realistic flow pattern and good branching and meandering are great, with the thickness of the river on the map being just a matter of taste.
