The Silk Road Map
I think I'm about done with this first map on the silk Road, the overview map. May add some more icons for some attractions and play with the sidebar a little. Comments welcome.

I like it quite a bit actually. I would love to have that map as a Forgotten Realms map for travelling through the land of the tuigan. Well done!

I like how you've done the desert areas. They have a texture that's subtle, yet easy to see, and it doesn't clutter up the image with drawings of dunes. It's really well done. As for the side panel, I see what the others are saying and, yeah, maybe it could do with a border at least. However, the way it is just now, it keeps the focus on the map itself, which is no bad thing!

I think the sidebar works ok, a border would be fine but not bad as is. There are a couple of items down in the technology section that seem to need capitalizing, and having no tech listed for some of the regions looks like it was just forgotten. I'd try to find something to put in each of those, even if minor.
Beautiful map, the religion side bar is a cool idea.

This is a cool map! The grinning camel banner is lovely.
I'm not a fan of the way the text wraps around the map, though... I think if you had added that to the sidebar, it would have made the sidebar look more complete and interesting too. Just a thought!
The best maps are the ones we like the most after looking at the longest.
