Hello - sorry for the thread necro, but I only just got back to tinkering with maps after a long long pause... just wanted to note a possible bug: I'm getting the impression that the checkbox that is supposed to make rivers be computed from the rain map is inverted. Turning it ON makes rivesr appear all through my deserts (manually created by lowering rainfall) - turning in OFF keeps them as nearly the only river-free places on the map, as intended. Might bear checking out, if a new version is planned at some point (I do hope so - climate model! )

but people seem to have unrealistic expectations for a seventeen year old bit of software.
the xp or better is a give-a-way

at least it is not Win95 or better

there is and has been NO SUPPORT for XP sp3 for 2 years
and XP sp2 went end of life in 2010

and the FT system requirements are Win 98 boxes
    System requirements

    • Windows® XP or better
    • 16bit+ colour
    • 128MB RAM
    • 450MB hard drive space
    • CD-Rom drive (Boxed-version only)

and THAT is a normal win98 box
    16 bit color - win95
    128 meg ram - win98
xp needed a min of 256 but 512 was BETTER in 2001
