Thread: Forest lookout tower

    Wip Forest lookout tower

    Hi, first time poster

I've been drawing some simple battlemaps for my d&d games lately, and am looking for some criticisms, opinions, advice, etc.

The scene is a small lookout tower set at a crossroads in the forest. The tower is roughly 10 meters tall with a stair case winding up the side. The top of the tower is open to the air, but has a roof (not uploaded) sat on 4 beams around the top, and a 1 meter tall wall for safety.

I don't want to overreach on my abilities, so the drawing is fairly simplistic. Is it too simplistic? Should I strive for more details? What kind of details? What would make a map like this more versatile for future games / other people? Is height adequately described / understood?

welcome to the guild, and congrats on your first map. It looks very good
A nice thing to have is a shadow from the elements on the map - especially the tower - as it shows of its height so people get a sense of that.
That said - good work - looking forward to seeing more from you. Seek inspiration in the forum and check out our tutorials

Very nice! I'm really loving this a lot. You did that side view too? I wouldn't say you have minute drawing skills.

Maybe you could put the first floor to the side with the side view or something, so you can have both floors on one level.
