Default May/June 2016 Lite Mapping Challenge: Olatunde

Hi guys, here's my entry for the challenge. My old mage's name is, as it appears in the title, Olatunde. The setting is an african one so, jungles, savanna and a witty rhino coming your way.

Oh man, so many great entries!! How am I ever going to choose which one to vote when the time comes (this happens every challenge )

Great start! I like the illustration, and the mountains are looking good too!

Thanks Josiah, and Bogie. This is just a first sketch to see where I'll put everything but it might work. I tried to get an isometric feel with the coast shape, do you think it works ?

Here's the next step. Colors aren't final, they're just here so that the map is more readable.

Intriguing tower! I'm wondering how anyone can live/work in there...it's really twisted. I like twisted!
Like a thief in the night
    she comes with no form
    yet tranquility proceeds
    the accursed storm...

Already shaping up nicely here, thomrey! Great details in the sketches are already bringing it to life. I'm looking forwards to in particular how you merge the coloured segments in. Also, I'm really liking that mountain range and the slight curve it has!

That tower kind of reminds me of the towers in the Elder Scrolls Oblivion.

@ ladiestorm : I love twisted too. Wanted some vortex feeling for this one. There's a story behind this tower, not as elaborate as yours but I'll have to write it soon.

@ GLS : Thanks a lot, the curved mountains are a must have for me, they give life to the landscape. Hope I'll do them justice with the rest. At the time they're a little bit lonely.

@ jshoer : it's highly inspired by a skyscraper project in Cairo.

    Next steps :
    - I guess I'll have to throw in some plateaus and hills. It's a rift valley like landscape, so, tropical forests at the bottom of the mountains, then the cliff and savannah.
    - Up north there'll be a desert area.
    - East of the mountains will be the land under the smoke, a Mordor like place.
    - And the north-west coast doesn't please me so I'll redo it, less jagged more "perspectivy".

Very nice work! Did you just added Ayers Rock in the north ?
