Nice job, Ravs, I didn't kjnow you played 3D - great stuff. I tried to REP you, but I repped your Alien Evidence post, so I guess I have to wait awhile - I'll get you though.

This is a sort of perspective matte map I'm working on using Bryce and Photoshop. The idea is to use this template which I made tonight (Bryce starts looking pretty good when you use lots of diferent textures and mask them in photoshop using depth and altititude masks) and then start to draw stuff on top (eek!) with little arrows pointing to the various locations.
lol, we'll see how it goes, but that's the theory.

Thanks GP, I dabble in 3d stuff (mostly spaceships and the like) and have never been quite happy with Bryce, but I think I'm onto something here. A map of a larger area and some UV mapping (for control over where stuff should go) mixed with the procedurals might work.
I'll rep you then on GPs behalf. Interesting to see where this one goes...
Ta, Redrobes! I'm still stuck about what I should do with it, tho.
Looks a bit "Return of the Jedi" to me. That clip on Endor where they have just finished playing with the teddy bears... oh I mean ewoks
Google fu is not up to it today to give a link to piccy. Hangs head in shame...
Yeah but looking at it the next day, it's so wrong...it looks more like a mess of textures than properly defined forests and plains the big cliff in the foreground is just rubbish....I think it's back to the drawing board.
I remember the scene...on the right foreground there was a watch tower (very techy looking) with a dude standing in it with some sort of techy lance, helmet, the whole 9 yards. Then a ship flies in and descends below the treetops. So maybe put some floating things and shippy things in and maybe an At-At or walker of some sort.
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

I think you are right about the texture on the foreground forest - it's a little obvious as a texture rather than trees. However the hills behind and in the distance look great. I'd definitely not ditch it here, just needs a little love given to the foreground.
Thanks Torstan - I'll give it a shot. Redrobes / Ascension - I wasn't thinking of an SF idea but that sounds pretty cool. I could use a foreground object like a spaceship and completely hide the horrid foreground. Problem solved!
