Map The Whispering Well -- Commission

A location on the Figoya Peninsula, as was Sapiento's Sipsup Lagoon. Done for DeepDark Designs, and my very first top-down "encounter"-style map at that. Done in PS.

The trees are magnificent and I love the overall atmosphere of the map but I don't understand the view on the red flower and torch ...

Ah, I can see how that could be confusing without the accompanying text. The "red flower" is a giant carnivorous plant, a rafflesia; the torch and flintstone spear mark the location of a hideout of a native hunter and killer of colonists. The client was specific that any kind of actual camp site would not be visible as it would be hidden by the tree tops.

Yep, i understand now. I'd add that the leaves overlapping the border are a win for me.

That red flower looks awesome! I love the bright, colourful appearance of the map, and the water & waterfall looks great too. Really nice work.

Great map Wired! I especially like the waterfall effect. Create such textures (the water, the grass, etc) drawing them was a really cool work!!

It was! And it turnd out to flow rather smoothly, too. The only feature that gave me pause was trying to find a way to depict the underground portions of the map in relation to the surface.
