I'm guessing you did your stone extrusion technique (copy text, offset). I can think of the candy canes as 3d if I imagine really hard. It's a cool effect, but I don't think it worked this time.

Very small update...the circadian rhythm of my creativity is on a downslope. I spent one night re-doing my avatar (only half-way done) and haven't touched the island for over a week because I've been on a Fall From Heaven kick. I agree with ya Bedwyr so I'll save that for the candy cane forest. Instead I turned the text into ice cubes. I also drew out some basic shapes for the iconography to come. When my rhythm starts swinging back up I'll finish this and crank out the December challenge...got 2 ideas for that but not sure how I want to proceed.
ps--put up the full size avatar for fun

If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

I'm gonna need to get me a copy of Civ IV just to play Fall From Heaven. I followed the thread for quite a while then kinda forgot about it.

Lots better. I would suggest more contrast though. Trying to think of an icy cool color that would contrast with the white/blue of the map.
I think the "snowman breeding grounds" needs to be changed to "Snowman Retirement Center"
This map is a ton of fun. I cannot wait to see what the new icons look like
Something witty and pithy
Oh, wicked cool. It's an adorable idea, but it's potentially pretty insidious. It reminds me of a North Polean (I made that up) version of Grimm, an RPG by Fantasy Flight Games set in a land of twisted fairy tales. I love the creativity of the names, too.
As it stands, seems pretty crowded in there, possibly due to the size of the fonts. It'll be interesting to see it with the new icons.
Yes, I am obsessed with my dog.
