I based it off a real world satellite map. I made it using the dual brush feature in Photoshop. Sadly, I don't recall the specific brushes I used. The dual brush cancels out part of the main brush, and with scattering on, gave me that random swirly effect.

I like the flow of your mountains and highlands regions across the map. It gives the map a really nice look and feel.

Good idea to create a new potpourri out of Earth´s coastlines and the result is not too bad in fact. At the moment I´m on the look for the danish-german coastlines It´ll be a fine project even without them

    Looking great!

I Love the shape of the whole thing.

Are you using the GIMP software for the mountains or going pure old hand-made photoshop (IF that's PS)?

It's all done in Photoshop. Is there an advantage to GIMP? I've heard it mentioned here often but I'm unfamiliar with it.

Really nice job so far, love the landforms, mountains and shapes. The bevel can sometime have an artificial feel to it, you might what that as it develops (the northern, snow area is probably most noticeable as a bevel.

    Great start!

Looking quite good so far! If you don't mind me asking, what's your technique on the mountains? They're outstanding!

This looks fantastic so far. Love the land-shapes and the colors you have chosen. Very much looking forward to where you'll take this!
