Thread: The Kingdom of Oldir [WIP]

Default The Kingdom of Oldir [WIP]

I drew this a week or so ago and have since decided to use it as a test map for adding value to black and white maps. I purchased some Copic Sketch Markers (Not an entire pack because I respect my wallet) to try them out. I'm pretty happy with what they add to the map. Any feedback or critiques would be greatly appreciated as I have zero formal training and am basically just doing what I think looks "right" in the moment. Thanks and hope you enjoy!

Edit: Apologies for pic quality. Taken with my phone.

It's looking good, Redleg. Do you plan to color it? I'd be curious to see how it works with this parchment texture.

Looking splendid indeed. Could you provide a more top-down photograph? the image looks a bit skewed, and I'm not sure that does your work justice!

I really admire your style, Red. Curious as to how you did the rivers to make them "bulge" at certain points. Was that done using the "brush" end of your Copic Sketch Markers and applying different pressures?

Yea this map arose basically from "Let me see what this would look like" versus a more planned approach. The picture was taken with my cellphone since I didn't have my scanner hooked up at the time.

I'd say bravo for this ; maps in black and white are difficult to sketch because you have to put real details only with your pen strokes... I think it is almost self-sufficient !

Maybe some forests would enhance your map a bit
