Question I'm a sci- fi writer and need to create a simple B&W map for my readers

This site is an amazing resource!

I'm a science fiction writer, virtual world builder, and former software engineer preparing to publish my second novel. I've realized that my readers need a map of the world I've created, so I'm here to learn.

It will be a simple, black & white map of two countries, nothing complicated. My readers just need to be able to see where key towns and geographic features are relative to each other.

I have the latest PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc. I'm debating between using software to generate the map or buying a Wacom Intuos and just drawing it. I don't have drawing skills, but this map doesn't have to be a work of art (althought I can see myself making more ornate maps in the future if this works out - I love some of the maps I see here).

I welcome any suggestions. I'm totally new to this.

Of course, if it's for a novel, you would better practice A LOT if you say you are not very good at the moment, of you can try posting your request here : https://www.cartographersguild.com/f...splay.php?f=51. This is where people can post their requests. Hope you will find what you are looking for here!
