Default Across the Green Vale (Challenge Entry)

Here's my recent Lite Challenge entry. The task was to make a mappy book cover, so I chose to use Mouse's favourite paper once again and ink it by hand, before colouring it in Photoshop.

Although, it could have done better in the voting, I'm still pretty pleased with how it turned out and another reminder of why I love trying out the challenges!

Feedback, comments and what not are always welcome.

Also, hopefully they'll make their way to the finished maps, but otherwise, don't forget to check out the awesome selection of entries before they disappear into the archives.

You did a great job on this. I loved how it turned out and the bold colours you used.

You've reminded me that I should really post mine in finished maps too. Despite putting it in an album, I completely forgot to post it here. So, thank you!

I love those colours, Greg, and I'll say it as many times as you show this map

Great setup Greg ! I really like those mountains and the vivid colors really sell the tale of old style.

Thanks ChickPea! I loved your Orient Express, just a shame you couldn't properly be a part of the challenge. I guess you just shouldn't be so good!

Also, ironically, you're pretty much the reason my challenge maps end up in the finished section.

Thanks, Mouse! Though I'm tempted to just spam you with 100s of copies and see if you still stay that.

Thanks, Thomas! I was really pleased with all the linework and almost when for a more Tolkien-esque colour scheeme at first, so that's probably where that old style seeps through!

I said it in the WIP and I'll say it again: this is one of those old school fantasy covers that needs to be on my bookshelf Fantastic work GLS.

Why can't we have a thumbs up smiley?

Hehe I don't give the golden thumb to everyone, you know!

(Though now it's in my image attachments, I'm going to use it all the time.)

Very nice entry GLS! Nice simple composition and I like that you've done all the lettering yourself. Very attractive.

    Cheers,
