    I'd say the second, if you loose the drop shadow otherwise the third.

    I am totally with Hoel here. I like the second best, but the drop shadow make the borders look raised and that's weird
    Without the drop shadow it will look better I think.

    I'm going to be the odd man out and say that I don't like the second one as the style clashes with the parchment. My favorite is the third one but the first one is also not bad.

    I understand now what you meant by artifacts at the edges, Hoel. They don't appear when in photoshop format, so I don't really know why they show when i save as gif.
    Check your settings on the export - could be that you are placing a matte around the image (white) and its picking that up. Often times if you go for transparency with .gif's they're finicky. I would suggest to you the .png format.

    I agree, definitely save as .PNG rather than .GIF
