You're a really great artist, Arsheesh - this is going to be bee-yooootiful when it's done!

Thank you Chickpea. Wow I appreciate the praise Diamond, though I'm not sure I'm worthy of it. I still have much to learn when it comes to drawing. The reality is I don't find the time to practice as much as I'd like, and so it always feels awkward and foreign when I begin to draw something new again. One of my new year's resolutions however is to draw a little bit each day to keep in practice.

Anyway, here's a quick update. Still have the bottom illustrations to do.

    Two things:

    1. I love the "Oh Sh!t!" look on the bird's face.
    2. There needs to be a guy in a hockey mask somewhere in the forest.

This is already gorgeous, Arsheesh! It's like a window open on a nicely illustrated scenery . And I like those cute beavers.

Ha, yes, Jason would indeed be a very appropriate addition to the map... and it might help explain the expression on the bird's face.

    Thank you Ilanthar.

OK, linework is more or less complete now. Decided to go a different direction with the Irises. Instead of having them growing out of the bottom left side of the image I decided to incorporate them into the border itself, sort of like a medieval/keltish type design. Time to move on to the coloring stage.

OK, moved on to laying out the basic color scheme. Given the natural greenery and purple iris's decorating the border I decided to go with a purple/green complimentary color scheme. I was sort of shooting for a cross between a medieval story-book and a cartoony look here. It may need some tweeks here or there (any feedback on things that could be improved would be helpful). The final stage will be to add light and shadows.

Well, I agree with Thomas. That duck may not look happy, but it's a candy for our eyes !

Is it a little top-heavy with most of the purple and darker, rich colors and contrast at the top?... the bottom feels a little pale by comparison. Otherwise, beautiful!!!
Also, is the bird a duck or a loon? Just curious.
