Help Need to make large area terrain map for non-fiction book!

I am working on a book of documentary aerial photography of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico of the Llano Estacado country. I need to create a map that shows our aircraft flight routes. I have GPS coordinates and am quite good with Adobe Photoshop tools for vector drawing. I am trying to find a good base map (or satellite imagery) of this large area the size of Indiana. I am currently learning USGS National Map and EROS and am a registered user of the latter so I can use the download client.

In Wikipedia, I found this great wide terrain view of the area, but I cant locate the source - the given one is a broken link. Take a look at the attached pic and let me know where I could find this base imagery/map. I cant seem to post a pic, therefore I will include this Wikipedia link to the type of base map that i need:
    See this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llano_Estacado#/media/File:LlanoEstacadoShadedRelief.jpg

Wishing you great light and happy landings!

https://www.naturalearthdata.com at the 1:10M scale has various elements with your area of interest at about that scale. You can look at NASA's WorldView product ( https://worldview.earthdata.nasa.gov/ ) to get various satellite map layers that will cover your area of interest. There are many data sets out there that you can hillshade with your favorite GIS software package (SRTM is popular and fairly high resolution) to get a high-resolution image.
