Map Official L5R Rokugan Boardgame Map

    Hi!

It has been very exciting for me to have the chance to work on the map of Rokugan for L5R by Fantasy Flight Games.
I've always had a passion for Asian style illustrations so I was thrilled when they asked me to paint this map

This is the original version, a bit different from the one you can find in the board game where they decided to add some features and icons.
I thought it would have been interesting to share with you both versions.

    Hope you like it!

Great map Francesca! This map, really gets me interested in the game, so that's a job wel done! Though I don't expect any different from you, really (:

Awesome map Francesca! Asian style maps are one of my favorites too. I just wish I had skill as good as yours to bring them out the way I would like.

The map is beautiful and all the illustrations give it an eery vibe, as if the land you show was caught in a mist of legends (and that's a big win) but there is a tiny technical detail that is also a great feature of the map. The water texture you added (which certainly took you a fair amount of time) is pretty wonderful !

Wonderful work of art! It really screams "legendary asian lands" for me . And I second Thomas, the sea must have been long to do, but it's most excellent.

It's a very interesting tecnique with a lot of instinctive brushes involved. This is the main reason I love it so much!

Thank you! The water texture was a challenge..mostly for my eyes and wrist But I think it was a necessary effort to gain the result I was striving to achieve.

As I said over on DA, Francesca, this is another stunner! Love seeing the Asian illustrations in your beautiful watercolour style. Also, that view of it as an actual board is awesome!

    absolutely beautiful!
Like a thief in the night
    she comes with no form
    yet tranquility proceeds
    the accursed storm...
