    Default Europe for HeXXen 1733

    Hey guys =)

A while ago, I was heavily involved designing HeXXen1733 together with Maik Schmidt to give it its look. He made general Art Direction, I made a lot of the basic design, chose typefaces, prepared the look for the book, made the final logo, covers, the map-style, etc. and at last, it went to be the most successful German crowdfunding of a starting RPG! I was blown away, to be honest! This project grew so dear to my heart, that I was overjoyed seeing people play with our Quick Start Rules lately and enjoying the game this much - a thing Mirko Bader, Maik, and myself worked on hard the weeks before.

This here is the map I put together with the Style we went for. Was a bit of a back and forth, but I think it turned out great, even though this style is not at all in my comfort zone. But people tell me recognized my style anyway. Somehow. Wondering, if that is a good thing ;)

    Best wishes, Steffen

Edit: Somewhere here, a while ago, I posted a cropped part of it already. Here is the link. =)

I love the style - the map looks very cool!
I'm just a bit confused what's going on with the borders and the free provinces. So this is an alternate history setting?

Vert nice work, Steffen! I'd be curious to know more about the setting, I must say.

@Neyasha: Thank you! =) It is, about 1730 it changes from real history. Between the Osman Empire and the north is a struggle not yet solved, the free provinces hold a lot of dangerous stuff.

@Ilanthar: Thank you, too! The setting is near of what you'd expect of historic action, and a little bit over the top. Spirits of the dead are caught to fuel okkult machinery, alchemy works and a door to hell opened in Markovia, spewing out witches, demons, and a lot of brutal things of European folklore with some twists. You play as a Hunter, stemming against the tide that darkens the world. Think of things like 'Hensel and Gretel - Witch Hunters' or 'Solomon Kane'. =)
