Thread: Zoomable Vector Map

    Default Zoomable Vector Map

I've been working on trying to figure out how to create a vector tileset with complete zooming capabilities. I've gotten as far as loading some jpegs into QGIS and hooking it up to mapbox, but that's more jpeg than I would like. I've also experimented with just drawing polygons over a blacked out google map, but the images flicker a lot - I don't think that's what it's meant for. Also, what if I want to make a world that is not the same size and shape as the earth? Has anyone ever tried this?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i would use inscape for part of this . Convert the jpg's to svg by using the bitmap tool in inkscape

this also can be done in Qgis using the GRASS process tools

    Thanks @johnvanliet, I will take a look at GRASS/svg.

I feel kind of dumb now, as I now realize you can do all of this directly in Mapbox by creating, editing, and then styling a dataset (instead of a tileset). But I don't know if it would work with something like Inkscape or with a different sized planet.
