Hehe, yes, I have been hearing that and I don't disagree.
Client choice. I tried to add some ways that you could slip through on foot.
I assume their story had reasons for this layout.

I can imagine a lot of makeshift bridges spanning the rooftops because who's going to want to walk all the way around. The thieves would probably start it up and the everyday commoners would use them during the day. Anyway, a very nice looking map and I like the color palette as well. Great work!

I like that idea. Maybe at some point I'll do an overlay with rooftop bridges. That's be cool.

Kind of swirling mantra designed city... cool! I love the effect of contrast that emphasize on the city itself.

It's not always easy to fill out an image when you're dealing with a square or circle format but a rectangular page.
