    Not only is this an excellent map, but it sounds like it would be a great place to launch an urban campaign. I'm impressed Steel General, outstanding. Repped.

    Cheers,

    It's nice to see people trawling the archives!!! It's one of the quieter corners of the Guild (down a dark basement somewhere). Whenever I see 'the archive' on the site, I think of that scene in the LOTR films where Gandalf goes down to Minas Tirith and gets escorted to a dusty chamber with lots of old scrolls.

    Funny you should say that, that was my exact mental image of that portion of the site as well

    I like going through the archived challenges, there's a lot of stuff in here that doesn't seem to see the light of day in the Finished Maps forum. And in cases like this, even though some people like Steel General aren't being overly prolific these days, you can definitely see why they have the reputation they do

    I *love* this map. It's very inspiring, makes me want to work on another city map. I think the burnout from Rivercrossing/Cruzamento is almost dealt with!

    Yes well, one thing studying philosophy has taught me is that often the best insights have a long and venerable history. To read modern scholars absent the works of Plato and Aristotle (and indeed other great ancient western and eastern thinkers) for instance is to consign one's self to a myopic view of the world. My guess is that there are many gems yet to be mined by us newbies collecting digital dust in the archival white tower of Minas Tirith.

    Cheers,

    Thanks arsheesh! Feel free to use it if you'd like.

    Not sure if you found it this way but being able to add the Challenge Maps link to my sig was a good idea I think.

    SG makes wonderful maps....in way they're even better as objects trouvees (sorry no accent on the 'e') in the dusty Archives. In years to come when we're all dead an buried others will be unearthing SG's maps and saying the same thing....that's pretty cool!

    Threadomancy around here is almost always appreciated. On other forums it usually re-ignites some long-forgotten flame war...here it exposes long-lost treasures. Nice map, SG. I had never seen this one before. Have some long-belated rep.

    @CoyoteMax, mearrin69 & Ravs - thanks

    This was a lot of work at the time, but worth it in the end.
