    Map Beyond the Sidewalks

A rural homestead in the autumn.

This was my entry for the September 2019 Challenge: Autumn themed Map.

Drawn free-hand on light card stock, inked and colored with colored pencils.

Drawing is not in my skill set. I have the knowledge but the skill has eluded me...

But one afternoon I started laying out a map for the challenge and I was really surprised by what my pencil had produced.
So I redrew it on better piece of paper and inked it.
I had been planning to color it digitally, but I was on a roll...
I got out the set of colored pencils from my childhood (circa 1960) and... got this result.

This is the best traditional drawing that I have produced as an adult.
(There was a watercolor that I did in 6th grade... It got a blue ribbon at the county fair.
But I didn't keep it when we cleaned out my parents' house in '95.)

Looks really good! The colored pencil texture is really good for this map!

    Thanks Arimel.
I hadn't used colored pencils since... before the dawn of time?
It took a bit of time to get familiar with them again.
But once I did, I was pretty happy with the results.

Actually, I was sort of going for the cute feel.
I knew that if I got fussy I'd probably loose it... and the map.
I'm surprised you got my name right. My one-shot signatures aren't always good.
(You should see the one when I registered at the doctor's office for a physical last week. I couldn't read it and I had just written it!)

Oh, it's not that bad... I not even folded my eyes to read it. But I read somewhere European people are more accustomed to hand-writing and cursive ? And I do have terrible hand writings among my family and friends I'm the only one to decrypt ^_^
