    Map Crescent Island

I recently got a small cintiq for work so I decided to test it out on a new map. It makes a world of difference. I feel much more connected to what I'm drawing.

This is also my first time using marker brushes in photoshop. I'm really feeling them. I think I'll explore using them some more.

It really is a different exprience than using a screenless tablet, isn't it?
A very nice map too, it has a very watercolour/paint feel to it that is not so easy to accomplish when working digitally.

Thanks for the kind words. I love traditional media but the convenience of working digitally is too much to pass up.

Really nice little test map. Love the colours! As Kell says, they have a real nice watercolour feel to them.

I like the overall look and the colors are particularly appealing.

Thanks all. I took these colors from something I was designing for work. It's nice to have some validation there. I'll keep pressing on, trying to keep a painterly feel to my maps.

Nice effect, Salmon ! I really thought it was a traditional map, until I read your post. Nicely done, and promising for your future maps !

Very kind of you. I think next time I'll try to incorporate some label banners similar to many of your maps.
