Here's a map (left) I made as a redo of a very old map (right) that I don't think that much of. I definitely would have made some very basic choices differently now. I think that the Wizard's Isles are cheesy and the road systems of Telar and Ergan excessive (if the connections are that complete, I'd leave them assumed and not map them today, unless at a scale where road names or information could be included).

If I'd used Inkscape, I probably could have gotten some of the labeling a touch nicer. I could have textured the land and forest a bit, but that seemed overkill for what is really a rather simple map. The water occupies most of the space and it has variation. The land can make due with the actual features. I resorted to brushes for the mountains. I couldn't find any tutorials on making caterpillar mountains, and the hand-drawn method would be better attempted when I'm using Krita, which supports using my tablet to create somewhat natural strokes.
