Founded in 1730, as part of the agreement between Tsar Peter and two 'time-travelers', Airenstadt is named after the Queen of Little Russia, Irene Angevin, or, as known among the nobility, d'Anjou. Construction was begun in late 1730, and was finished by 1752. During the Crimean War it operated as a fort for the Royal Guard of Little Russia, an autonomous military group using technologies far more advanced than anything the Russians have ever seen.

Despite this huge gap in technology, it was opted for the city to blend in with the others, taking up the style and design of regular cities of the era, with hidden defenses in its towers. It gives way on the southern side to large fields, meant to supply the city. Its population consists of ex-Cossacks, who have been given jobs in the city.
