Hi everyone. I am really new to the map making world and looking forward to learning what I can. I am currently working on making a world map for a DnD campaign I am going to be running hopefully some time soon. Looking forward to all of your input and advice.

Auth - Thank you for welcoming me.
I have a general idea of what I want my world to look like. I am wanting to make a world map showing all 5 of my continents. Then I want to make more detailed maps of each individual continent. Maybe going so far as making maps of each individual territory.
I plan on using this world for all the campaigns that I DM. I feel that the more of my world I have prepared the more I can let my players have free reign, not having to "guide" them back to a certain area because I don't have anything ready when they go cross eyed trying to find north. Nothing like a sign popping up in the middle of a forest saying "You are going the wrong way".
WOW!
That is certainly quite the objective you have there. Perhaps, to ensure you do not feel overwhelmed, look to doing some maps ASAP for where your initial campaign will take place.
Otherwise, WELCOME!

Welcome to The Guild. I do the big picture planning thing as well, starting with the whole globe then working my way down. Of course, that only works if you have the time. If you don't have the time, you gotta do it from the bottom up just to crank out stuff to keep up. Good luck either way and post up some initial sketches.
