Wings of Fire Phyrria Map for Client

I think, saving for a bajillion little touches to things here and there, I'm done the ink on this one.

Client wanted a hand-drawn and coloured version of Mike Schely's map, and Joy Ang's dragons, from "Wings of Fire". Done in my style, with certain requests added. It's 16" x 22".

Now, time to start hand colouring.

There's so much to like about this map, the forests, mountains, the kingdom icons. I think my favorite feature is the dragon compass rose. One thing I wonder, is why you chose not shade the mountains, especially given the forests have shading? But honestly, it looks great either way.

I like a lot that the general shape of the island is that of a dragon.

I love how much detail went into the icons for different places. Especially how these circular shapes around the names of the places hint at the land's name. I just can't figure out what the circle around the Sea Kingdom means and about the Night Kingdom, I also wonder if it's supposed to be the moon? I'm looking forward to see the coloured version of this map.
