    Default Climates and Biomes

Is it possible that there are drastic climate differences on a scale of just miles?

I mean for example, Region 2 is full of water(there are some lakes there that I didn't show but they are there) and it is just miles from Region 1 which is very diverse.

It has about the same temperature and climate except the crater lake which goes from a lake to a desert in a matter of months. A cold desert mind you but still a desert.

However, things drastically change as far as climate and biome when you go south of Region 1. Region 3 is where a swamp starts and the Black Sword River stops(the swamp always has water going in from the Black Sword River). And it is not like it is even a significant change in latitude since the planet is big(really big) but the regions are small.

Each region is about the size of 1 of these regions of Ohio(maybe a bit bigger but not much bigger):

On a bigger planet than ours both by mass and radius a region the size of Ohio would take up much less space than 10 degrees N->S.

Is this drastic change from mostly grassland with a river to a swamp possible in such a relatively short distance?

Mountains make the wildest climate combinations possible.
