Yeah, I kind of did that on purpose to make sure the continental shelves (such as they are) stood out clearly. Once I'm totally satisfied with the way they look as far as "texture" goes, I'll dial things down a bit, give them just enough "brightness" to be noticeable without being overpowering. I've seen that link a couple of times, btw, very good stuff, but I'm not quite to that point just yet and even when I reach that point, I'll still be limited, to some degree, by what FTPro is capable of accomplishing. It'll be interesting to see the aesthetic differences between the final renders in FTPro and Terragen respectively

Dontcha just love holidays? 2 Freezer Compressor break-downs and one for a general cooler. Needless to say, I've been rather busy and haven't had much time to work on this project until now. Only a couple hours worth of work though, as I fiddle around with the shore and lowland elevations, bouncing back and forth between Wilbur, Paintshop and FTPro. Thought I'd toss a climate model over the top of things just to see where it's at. Haven't really worked out the temperature or rainfall schemes just yet, so it would be safe to assume that the world currently doesn't have any tilt and a very average temperature gradient and rainfall amounts. Still, gives something more to look at than just elevations.

Next major goal is going to be laying out the high-level mountains so that I can start squeezing in the mid-level elevations. All in all, things seem to be heading in the direction I want them to go, will just have to keep plugging away at it one little step at a time.

Comments, Criticisms and Suggestions Always Welcome.

It's definitely starting to come around, love the spinning globe. (No pun intended)

Yep, lookin much nicer. The only real thing that I see missing is some shelf area around the land.

Ah yes, the shelves. They are there, but the coloring just hasn't been working out so far. That's one of the side projects I'll be working on when I have a chance, along with a modified climate model. In the long run, I may have to re-work the mask I'm using to define the shelves, but I'll wait until I see what I can do with the coloring first. Worst case scenario is that I'll get the "above sea-level" work done and then post process it to create the shelves.
