    I have played all the Anno games and they are very laid back. It's all about settling islands, trading stuff and getting your people happy, so you unlock more buildings. Combat (which is basically where the RTS part kicks in) comes mostly late in the game as building a sizable army and having the ships to transport them, takes loads of times.
    The game could be used for mapping purposes I guess... it can be compared a bit to the Sim City games.

    I considered picking up today. The standard version that's in stores here comes at 35 EUR which is VERY reasonable if it's half as much fun as 1701 AD was (I'd mostly play without wars and just settle my islands - I prefer builder games).
