    I really like this stuff too. I think I'm going to repeat the method with all my maps :
    First, do the map like RobA in his tuto, using filters and noise and bump map.
    Then trace all the contours (I'm not sure it's the correct word ... (I'm french) do you understand what I mean ?) with the calligraphy tool on a transparent layer.
    Put this new layer in front of a parchment layer.
    Finish with the colors : use aerographer and solid noise with gradient map, then an oilify effect, and then a gaussian blur.
    It's done !

    I like the concept!

    I think your font is working against you, though; anything is better than Papyrus.

    While I agree that the font choice may or may not necessarily be the best, the Papyrus font isn't so bad
