    Blame Microsoft for that. Every other Operating System I've worked with plays quite nicely with other OSs, but Microsoft makes you jump through hoops to do the same things.

    Yeah, I try to do the same thing for the same reason.
    My machine was one step away from getting itself axe-murdered at the weekend.

    There are online converters that can be used, as well as some share/freeware ones.

    Or just post up the original here and ask if someone will convert it for you.

    Also remember that everything but base in OpenOffice will export to pdf... (base might too, for reports and such)
