Well I guess I should start with thanks to all those responsible for this site, it's fine tutorials and all the wonderful work everyone has put in to it. I have been making maps for many years using everything from number two pencils to oil paints on canvas. Most were created for various games I ran but some just for the fun of it. Over the years I probably created hundreds. But then, a few years ago, I stopped playing in the table top games that were such a large part of my youth and, consequently, stopped making maps. Time passed and one day I decided to create a new game and a world to set it in. I started sketching characters and writing stories and all the other color a world needs to feel real. I tossed off a few quick sloppy maps just to keep everything in order but nothing to be proud of. Now it's time to create the real thing and I have come here to learn about using the computer to produce the kind of high quality work I have seen from so many of you all. Actually I signed up a couple months back and have been slowly making my way through the tutorials and checking out everyone's work for ideas I might like to swipe...err...emulate. I finally realized today that I never got around to saying hello, so, hello.
