Many thanks for your suggestions. The stripes idea actually is on that map, the only problem is that when i try to upload the map through photo-bucket, it tends to shrink the map. The lighter reds and pinks in Asia and Eastern Europe are the stripes blended into the white. Im still working on fixing it. As for Asia, some excellent points so i shall have to take another look at it. The coloring for the most part is a problem of the site that i post these maps on. Tell me something, do most of these Alt history maps come out of a place called AH.com? If so the problem of similar coloring is USC ((Universal Standard Color)). What USC is is an attempt to solve the numerous confusions of different mapmakers using different colors for the same nations. This typically confused everyone until several board officials came up with the standard in about 07. Everyone's been using it since. The typical Communist color is Red, the Pinks are variations of said red.
The main thing im trying to actually get across with the map in general is that the Stalin gets all of Europe and uses a Communist Marshall plan to rebuild it along Socialist lines. With his armies not having to focus on defending Eastern Europe, he is free to influence the rest of the world. This leads to a much, MUCH larger Communist bloc, consisting of four major nations, the European Socialist Union ((Dark Red)), the USSR ((Red)), the Celestial People's Republic of China ((Pink in China, and yes i KNOW how crazy that sounds)), and the Union of Revolutionary Republics of South Asia ((Pink in India)). There are other minor Communist/Socialist nations around the world as well. And as for what the uber Bolivia is, its the Bolivian Empire.
And the date of the map is 2003, at the time of the Fifth International, called by China following the collapse of Soviet hegemony over the world-wide Communist movement.
