    As "just a map" I like the second one better.

    But, unless I'm mistaken the first was supposed to be more of a 'government document/decree' than "just a map". In that case I think the additional border decorations were appropriate (though maybe something different than celtic knot work would work better)

    Yes, that was the intent. So your assessment is not wrong. I'm just offering up a different version to suit to taste.

    Interesting map, and a great idea... for players of 1E/B/X D&D, it would be very very cool to give them a "land grant" map as you have done, which would then facilitate their explorations and "territory development".

    Nicely done.
