July 2018 Challenge : Son of the Fantasy Random Generator
July's challenge was a re-run of the ever popular random generator challenge. We had 20 amazing entries, and thank you so much to everyone who took part.
Our congrats go to J.Edward for his map 'Iri-Oriand, World of Living Magic'. J wins his fifth gold compass. Check out the WIP thread here.

August 2018 Challenge : The Passage of Time
This month our regular challenge re-visits one we ran nine years ago. Your task this month is to map 'The Passage of Time'. (If you're interested, our winner in 2009 was töff with map 'Woadsbury').

Your challenge this month is to show the effects of time on something. The style, area, subject, layout, etc is up to you. You can do one map or multiple side-by-side maps. The only restriction is that you have to clearly show the element of time passing in some way. Here are some suggestions Ascension had way back when:
- You could show the various additions to a castle and how it grows (structure mapping).
- You could show how deep the dwarves have dug their caves over time (dungeon mapping).
- You could do multiple maps that shows a transition from village to city (town mapping).
- You could show the travels of some particular hero and the battles he fought (regional mapping).
- You could show the extent of the Mongol Horde over various decades (continent mapping).
- You could show the effects of terraforming a planet or the effects of global warming on ours (planet mapping).
- You could show the voyage of the Enterprise and the regions they discover (Galaxy mapping).

Create a map around a significant Statue
I was thinking today, it is always fun to create something when there is something significant of it that stirs your imagination.
So, that is why I think this one can be quite interesting. Instead of the town, ruins, city being the hero of the map. The Statue and the story around it would be the hero of the map.... (read more here)
