Wip January/February 2012 Lite Challenge Entry: Flowery Scrolly Thing

It's been a while since I've entered a challenge, so it's about time I gave it another shot.

I've decided to take the corner decorations I used on my Planisphere of Mars, and use the same sort of shapes for a compass rose.

Added some labels for the directions. I'm not quite sure if it works for me though.

That's really extraordinary. What don't you like about it?

I'm just not sure if it fits with the graphical elements. It's not something I can put my finger on though. It's probably just nothing and I'm looking too hard.

Go to bed and look at it the next day ... always a good trick when drawing stuff!

I'm glad I'm not the only one to think "Spirograph" after first glance *yeah yeah showing my age too..*

Great. I didn't realize that owning a Spirograph made you ready to be put out to pasture. That is a neat compass design. I'm not sure about all those colors though. Might work better with three than five.

I don't think it's so much "putting out to pasture" as it is not remembering having seen a set since I was in 3rd grade.. which was a very long time ago indeed

I like the colours the way they are, but maybe that's because it's speaking to my nostalgia. I always used a *lot* of colours when drawing out the spirals
