Help Help with isometric style - cliffs/ similar

Hi all, Cekkie here. I've been working on a map for a little while now, but every time I try to create cliffs on shorelines or elsewhere or plateaus the look is unsatisfactory. I was wondering how you went about it?
They all look like... well scribbles, I can't get them to look realistic.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jenny!

Well, to be honest every cliff I've ever drawn feels unsatisfactory, but sometimes they look like cliffs! Do you have some examples of cliffs you've made? That might help with giving you some ideas about where to go.

My technique mostly revolves around looking at other people's work and trying to copy them, there are lots of amazing cliff-drawers here. These two examples are different. In the floating isles one I tried to make the cliffs into facets, dividing up the surfaces into smaller chunks. In the castle map I tried out a mix of horizontal and vertical lines to give a sense of rocky roughness. Maybe these are useful?

    Cheers,
