Map A doodle to get back into the swing of things...

This is the first map I've made in (I can't believe this) 6 years!

It's half doodle-during-a-long-meeting and half test to see if I could handle drawing. CT surgery really sucks, it hurt to write or draw for about a year afterward. But it isn't tingling, and that is worth every minute of the pain!!!

So here's the map: Ballpoint on the back of a powerpoint presentation. I did a bit of fiddling with the contrast after scanning to remove the image of the powerpoint from the other side.

Pretty nice ! The texturing on the northernmost island is great and I'd love to see some coastal waves to smooth the transition between sea and land. I dunno if it's intentional but there's a slight tilt to your moutains that gives the impression of a close up on a globe and I love that dizzying feel !

Thanks! Not intentional at all lol; I was paying attention to the meeting as I doodled and tilted the paper without realizing it.

The transition at the coasts definitely needs some love. I'm thinking of trying to learn the awesome pillowing technique I see a lot as well.

I can't freehand draw for the life of me and that's accidental? Wow!

Just a side, how did the meeting go. by the way? Rhetorical so you don't have to answer lol.

Give it time (and practice) KC, I couldn't for a really long time either. I still can't draw anything that doesn't go on a map, lol.

The meeting went great. I'm just so darn kinesthetic I can't sit still unless I have something in my hands, so I doodle.

Well, no new mapping tonight, but since this is also "getting back into the swing of things" thought I'd post it here.

My new house has a room I can use as an art studio! After 2.5 years in the house, it is finally set up enough to actually use. YAY!

Also, Finn walked in as soon as I held up the phone for the pic, so I made him pose.

Cool!! And Finn needs a fluttering cape to go with those superhero eye patches.

The mountains are gorgeous! I want to go to that wild-looking northern island.
