Default Sun Belt Isles (2018 abandonned commission)

    Hi guild fellows.
Here is a map that commissioned me a novel writer some time ago. As i don't have any news from him after 3 months, I think I can post it here to make you appreciate it.
Feel free to post yours critics, prize or rep it as you like.
    Cheers.
    Warlin.

It's always such a bummer when clients drop out like that. Just plain disrespectful. And for such a fine map, too.

Oh, and I think the gray color helps a lot. The problem is still not completely gone, for my eyes at least, but it is much less dominant now. The linework is excellent, and I really like those wavelines even if they are very strong.

So much great work on the linework for this one, especially for the relief, and I absolutely love the coastline shape. Good job, Warlin ! So weird your client vanished with such a good map on the making...

Big loss for this client, because the map is gorgeous!! The fine details are exquisite. Can I ask what font this is? I love it a lot!

Indeed, that's a big loss for the client. The map is super busy but, oh boy, is it magnificent. It took me a whole minute to realize you did not shade the mountains. There's no need, they're perfect ! The variety of terrains is impressive. If I had one minor comment, it would be about the waves. I would have loved to see the map with a bit more spacing or perhaps a lower opacity but they also give a strong character to the map so, all in all, it's a perfect map that works wonders as a whole and a style I'm sure will bring you more clients

Apart of the waves question, I love it! You have a unique and very brilliant style, Warlin. The lineart is just gorgeous.

Thanks Kellerica. It takes me much time to achieve this map and I'm a bit disappointed about the way my client disappeared. I previously want to make this map purely black and white, so it takes me some time to agree about this grey tone for the sea.

Thanks Thomas. I didn't shade the mountain because... I didn't shade the mountain ? I didn't shade the mountains ! Oups... . I previously want to shade them and I find last day a to do list with mountain shading item. But in the process, after doing the terrain details, I find that the map need only to be labeled to be finished. So no hatching to shade them.

Thanks Ilanthar. The waves, then. It's one of my hard time doing a map at the moment. I find this kind of doing waves pretty efficient, but I don't manage to find the appropriate space between them. I have to study with more attention JEdward maps.
    Cheers.

Agree with everyone else. The map is gorgeous. This is the kind of map i would study intensively while reading a book to follow the characters.
Too bad client backed out, I know the pain.... but, let's not be hasty about judging, if we really don't know what happened.
