    Default Ironlands (Commission WIP)

    Hi all,

Here is a project in the works currently. This map is a departure from my regular style, so I am exploring new techniques and I am looking for some feedback.

The setting is a harsh, empty, unforgiving northern land for an rpg. Here are two progress images. I am not entirely satisfied, so I may end up doing some significant revisions. I have a feeling it's a bit to scattered/messy.

I'd really love to have some critique, comments, feedback or ideas. Let me know what your thoughts are.

Thanks Naima! Do you just mean a lighter color for the sea around the edge of the map?

    Yes for shallow waters.

Some lighter water around the coastline is a good idea. I'll experiment a little bit and see how it goes.

I think this looks pretty good, I really like the dark colors you're using here. One thing that I noticed that looked a little out of place to me is you have line work around the shoreline and you aren't using line work like that anywhere else so it looks a little odd. The other thing I notices was the lack of rivers, I don't know if you just haven't gotten to them yet but it would be odd for a terrane like this not to have rivers.

Thanks Domino! Good point, I'm still going to work on coastline a bit so I'll figure something out.
As for rivers, the creator of the rpg requested no rivers because the piece is meant to be a blank world for the players to build on.

    Here is an update.

Quite a bit of progress and finer work, including but not limited to:
    -Added more forest
    -Forest texturing
    -Some more detail on hills
    -Some work on the sea
    -Ice texture
-Frame (Possibly temporary, let me know what you think of it)

As always, I love feedback, let me know what you think!
