Default April 2019 Challenge: Smiles Bay

    Yarr.

I’m so happy when I found out that there would be a pirate themed challenge this month. For a while I have had a pirate map idea on my mind that I never had time to make. I take this challenge as a sign and jump right in. Let’s see how far I dare to exlore the infamous, dreaded, horrific, dangerous …
    … Smiles Bay

I started some on the frame today and I hope that I can really push this tomorrow. Don’t really have much time for this, but I really want to make it good

    Cheers,
    Karl

Oooh, that's cool so far. I like the ominous smiley face flag down there...

    Many thanks everyone.

Over the weekend I had time to make some good progress on this. Even had some time to attempt drawing one of “Smiles favorite paintings” in the frame. For the painting I’m going to try to take some inspiration from the Pickman Gallery painting in Fallout 4, combining more abstract shapes and strong color with more “insane” themes to mirror Smiles own madness.

Now I will leave that for later because first I have to finish the line work!

I second that. Your portfolio is amazing, very unique style which evokes real places. Definitely adding you to my list of cartographers to watch and closely study!
